Experience
I have been at Mayville State for almost thirteen years. Over that time, I have had many amazing opportunities learn and serve. My primary role is Instructional Designer. Other "hats" I have worn are listed here as well, starting with the most recent. 

​Instructional Coach and Co-Facilitator for Title III grant, 5/20 - present
​MSU Title III Improving Institutions Grant, Mayville State University, Mayville, ND
  • Models effective practice and provides support for thirty-three faculty members taking the ACUE Effective Online Teaching course
  • Evaluates and supports active learning practices for faculty members teaching online and in-person
  • Collects and analyzes data measuring impact of grant activities on institutional goals in collaboration with Institutional Research Specialist and other grant personnel
  • Contributes to the composition and refinement of action items addressing Title III research questions

Online Adjunct Instructor, 5/20 - present
Nursing Division, Mayville State University, Mayville, ND
Co-instructor for NURS 610, Foundations and Teaching Strategies in Nursing Education
  • Models process and results of Design Thinking for nursing educator students
  • Responsible for the teaching and learning sections of the course as part of the Masters of Science in Nursing, Nurse Educator Track
  • Develops Storyline 360 modules for this class, including Chickering and Gamson module (see module on my e-Learning page)
  • Develops mico-lectures using Camtasia 2020 and VoiceThread​
Digital Accessibility Specialist, 5/19 - present

  • Provides support and training for the movement toward an accessible campus
  • Tracks and reports progress with Blackboard Ally and institutional accessibility with classes
  • Maintains current knowledge of ADA requirements for accessibility of digital academic content 
  • Incorporates a Universal Design philosophy to support accessible document development


Instructional Designer, 6/17 - present

  • Lead the subcommittee for Training and Education of faculty, staff and students for the COVID-19 Restart Taskforce. Designed, developed and managed SafeColleges training modules
  • Designed and developed Storyline 360 training module for Crucial Conversations during MSU's return to campus fall 2020. (see sample my e-Learning page)
  • Provides technical and pedagogical support for use of Zoom for all faculty, staff and students
  • Spearheaded Advancing Education at MSU initiative and now chairs mini-grant committee for funds of $10,000 for innovative pedagogical projects.

  • Managed the design, development and evaluation processes for online courses
  • Assessed course-level objectives for measure-ability and alignment with available learning resources, evaluated learning activities, and the course purpose 
  • Provided guidance for subject matter experts in the development of online learning
  • Conducted needs assessments to identify, design, develop and implement relevant and timely learning experiences and technology solutions

  • Oversaw the university academic assessment process
  • Collaborated with Division Chairs, Coordinators, the Chair of the Essential Studies Committee and the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness
  • Conducted training and assessment events to assist faculty with assessment needs
  • Provided guidelines for curriculum development and mapping to assist divisions in the alignment with and measurement of program-level and institutional-level student learning outcomes
  • Provided leadership and guidance for Assessment Coordinators as they work with their division members to facilitate day-to-day assessment work and the Annual Report process
  • Conducted and reported annual progress of institution toward program- and institutional- level student learning outcomes.

  • CIS 385: Contemporary Multimedia Tools (online). This is an approved Essential Studies 4 credit lab course in the Science and Technology category. Using the ADDIE process, students have hands-on experience with finding, evaluating, using and recommending free multimedia tools (mTools) to use in personal and professional settings.
  • CIS 115, 116, 117 (on campus): Introduction to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Utilized SAM, an interactive online learning tool, to introduce freshmen to the basic concepts of Microsoft Office
  • BOTE 347 (on campus): Computer Applications in Business. Intermediate to advanced use of spreadsheet (Excel) and database (Access) applications.
Assistant Director of Academic Assessment, 8/13 – 8/15
Office of Academic Affairs, Mayville State University
  • Collaborated with the Director of Academic Assessment (DAA) in overseeing and improving the university assessment process
  • Worked cooperatively with faculty and administrators across the university to advance assessment and evaluation efforts
  • Facilitated workshops & recorded video tutorials to assist faculty with applying assessment results to improve achievement of student learning outcomes
  • Facilitated the selection and implementation of a variety of teaching/instructional strategies designed to meet learners’ needs and student learning outcomes
  • Collaborated with the DAA and other members of the Assessment Team in the development, implementation and improvement of the Annual Report process; also, served as reviewer.
Learning Engineer, 8/08 – 8/12 (transitioned to part time after 8/09)
Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute, North Dakota State University, Fargo/Bismarck, ND
  • Collaborated with a team of civil engineers to design an e-learning curriculum for NDDOT workers on a variety of topics, including OSHA regulations and bridge building
  • Conducted extensive research and consulted with subject matter experts to develop content of e-learning modules
